Romeral Rioja Crianza 2006

16 03 2010

Spain – Red – 2006 – 13%

Region: Rioja

Producer: Bodegas AGE

Label: Romeral

Grape: Tempranillo

Brick red wine with floral aromas.  Medium-full bodied, some acidity with fairly dry tannins.  Good length and moderate finish with flavours of rose and raspberry.  Overall, this wine is a bit sharp, yet has greater complexity than some reservas; seems to be a pretty good value and will likely buy it again.

Castillo San Simon Crianza 2007 Jumilla

11 03 2010

Spain – Red – 2007 - 13%

Region: Jumilla

Producer: Bodegas 1890

Label: Castillo San Simon Crianza

Grapes: Tempranillo, Monastrell

Ruby red with aromas of dark berry fruit.  Fairly full bodied with a matt texture.  No remarkable length or finish.  Pleasant enough slightly baked flavours of cherry and blackberry.  Not a remarkable wine, picked up this bottle on offer for £3.99 but at the regular price would look for something else.

Waitrose  £4.99
