Almost translucent white wine with a faint aroma of peach. Well-balanced with a soft texture and flavour of peach with a hint of lime. Not a great deal of length or finish. Certainly a refreshing drink but sadly one-dimensional, so not a particularly good value.

Aromas of cherry blossom in a ruby red wine. Medium-bodied and quite acidic with only hints of a cherry flavour and these jammy and somewhat bitter. Quite a short finish and all the taste to the front of the mouth. Not a stunning wine; unlikely to buy it again.

Italy – Sparkling White – 2008
Region: Piemonte
Producer: Cantine Volpi
Very pale in the glass with plenty of gently foamy bubbles. Rich sweet aroma of white grapes and roses. Very sweet taste, again of white grapes, yet somehow really refreshing. At 5.5% makes for a lovely mid-afternoon tipple but perhaps a bit pricey.

Italy – Red – 2007

Dull red, approaching a bricky colour. Black cherry and pepper spices on the nose. Medium body with deep cherry and raspberry flavours. Soft tannins with good middle-palate length and a pleasant medium-long finish. A really enjoyable wine.
